Halley at 8 years old.
Hello Again Friends and Family! The 2008 Arthritis Walk is here! This is our second year as Team Halley's Comets. Last year was our first year and we had a record-breaking total. As you may recall in 2006, my 8 year old niece was diagnosed with pauli-auticular juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. She is currently doing well on some medications along with physical and occupational therapy. Since last year's walk was so successful for the foundation as well as for Halley and family and friends, we decided to do it again this year. The outpouring of support and donations last year was enormous and very appreciated. Halley needs our help as friends, family and a community to fight this disease and to keep her spirits strong.
Halley also took home a prize at last year's event for being the TOP fundraiser in all of Roanoke!
We are taking on a challenge to make a difference in our community by participating in the Arthritis Foundation's Arthritis Walk. Thousands of people across the nation are joining together this Spring in the quest for a cure. The Arthritis Walk will be led by inspirational men, women and children who have arthritis. They'll be leading the way wearing special blue honoree hats to show that they are taking control of their arthritis.
Team participation is FUN and EASY! A team is a group of ten or more walkers joining together to raise money to fight arthritis. We hope you will help too!
